Knocking the Sunday Scaries
Be Strong and Courageous
I’ve been out of DC for the past two weeks, and before I left, I was so excited to take a break. I’ve been working across multiple jobs since the beginning of the year and hadn’t had an actual break or more than a full day off from work. While some people are wired to grind, I’m not wired that way. I’ve learned that I require more rest than the usual person. It’s my rest that truly makes me productive, especially as a creative.
The first day of my vacation, I kept thinking how 14 days was so long. When would I finally be back in DC? A vacation that I’d been excited for weeks for, I had finally taken it, and all I wanted to do was come back home.
Now that the vacation is over, I had the absolute best time. I NEEDED THAT. I’ll share more of a basic breakdown of what we did in Jamaica soon.
Laughing on the beach, sharing inside jokes with my family, annoying my sister, making fun of my brothers, and getting all the hugs from my mom. I’m so thankful for the break.

Now that it’s over, I started to feel the Sunday Scaries of going back to reality. A reality where I’m coming back to transitioning to the next phase of my career and personal life, and I started to feel a little nervous.
With these changes, God keeps sharing with me to “Be Strong and Courageous” in many different ways, and I want to share some verses that have been providing me strength in this transitional period.
7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1: 7-9, NIV)
Within these 3 verses, he tells Joshua to “be strong and courageous” 3 times. That’s a big deal.
6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1)
There are a couple more that have been bringing me peace, but these are the three on my heart to share with you today.
The Lord is always with me, he goes before me, he’s right beside me, and all will be well.
If you’re in a similar space, I hope these verses bring you peace. Sending you so much love and light! Remember you are blessed and highly favored.
